Restoration & Illumination

The restoration process of New Jerusalem (1906) by Mary Tillinghast was achieved in a six-month period by our friends at La Casa del Vitral (Edinburg, Texas). This whole process is laborious and requires careful expertise. To achieve proper restoration of an antique stained-glass window requires multiple steps, which include: removing the original leading, separating the layers of glass, cleaning the glass, creating patterns for each panel (of which each piece of glass belongs to), putting the pieces of glass back together, soldering each frame with lead or copper tin foil to hold the pieces of glass together, and finally the installation. Once installed, electricians connect LED panels and their appropriate colored lighting per window.
